KEITH GARRETT
Founder
Keith Garrett founded STANDARD Ship Repair in 2017. He has a Degree in Marine Technology from National University. He began working Navy Ship repair in 2009 as a Nondestructive Testing Level II for 5 years. While on the job, he obtained his Nondestructive testing Level III Certification. For the following 5 years he worked as a Welding Engineer / NDT III at a Master Ship repair company in San Diego. He is CEO/Founder of STANDARD for 6 years. He is married with two children, a boy 4 and a daughter 2 years old. They live in Scripps Ranch. He is an avid golfer and in the process of teaching his young son.
GINA HURANI
Co-founder
Gina Hurani (Garrett) is President and co-founder of STANDARD Ship Repair. She graduated from Cal State Los Angeles with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has worked extensively with various non-profit organizations around the San Diego area. She began working with Standard Ship Repair from its inception, focusing on incorporating what she learned in the mental health field, applying these to opportunities with customers and employees. Gina is married to CEO and co-founder Keith Garrett. They have 2 young children, a boy 4 and a girl 3. They enjoy traveling and playing sports together.
MARK COCHRAN
General Manager
Mark Cochran is General Manager of STANDARD Ship Repair. Born and raised in San Diego CA. Mark joined the Unites States Marine Corp. at the age of 18, where he filled the duties of an Aircraft Production Controller and attained the rank of Sergeant. Following his service in the United States Military, he enrolled at National University, Commercial Diving and Nondestructive Testing Program, and upon completion served as a Quality Assurance / Non-Destructive Testing inspector in the Ship Repair Sector. He is in process of accomplishing a bachelor’s degree in business management.
RUTH E. HOWARD
Corporate Controller
Ruth E. Howard is the Corporate Controller of Standard Ship Repair. Prior to her appointment as Controller from March 2020 to June 2021, she served as Human Resources Manager. In addition, she has over 13 years of experience working at different levels of manufacturing. She has been a Production Worker, Production Planner, Shipping / Receiving Manager and Human Resources Assistant. Ruth is currently enrolled at UCSD in the Accounting program to receive her accounting certificate and the opportunity to take the Uniform CPA Examination.
JOSE GALICOT
QA/EHS Manager
Jose Galicot is QA/EHS Manager at STANDARD Ship Repair. He began his 21-year career working on NAVY ships in 2003 as a Shipwright Lead (welding/Fitter/laser/alignments) for 3 years. He worked as Layout Inspector (Blueprints, layouts) for addition 3 years, and became a QA Inspector working in Quality Assurance (14-year total) from a QA level I to QA Manager. He is EHS Manager with 6 years of experience in safety. Jose graduated from San Diego State University – BA International Business; and obtained an associate degree at Southwestern College – AA Business Administration. He is married to his beautiful wife Brenda and have two children, Isaac 20, currently serving the U.S. NAVY and Sofia 19, attending college.
KEN PEARCY
Director of Business Development
Ken Pearcy, STANDARD Ship Repair Director of Business Development, is a seasoned and experienced professional with 30 years spanning engagements in operations, production, and quality assurance. His proven leadership skills, management abilities and results centered approach, allow STANDARD to reliable achievements of company objectives. Ken has worked on projects as wide ranging as the NASA Orion crewed spacecraft program, the Venus exploration Davinci Probe, the Air Forces B-2 stealth bomber, all manner of U.S. Navy nuclear and conventional surface and subsurface vessels, as well as commercial projects spanning the globe. Whether it be cost analysis and control, developing new lines of revenue, supply chain management or team building, Ken’s talent and skills are key components to STANDARD’S commitment to excellence and sustained superior support for all its valued customers.
PAULINE CASTRO
HR Manager
Pauline Castro is Human Resource Manager at STANDARD Ship Repair. Serving STANDARD for over two years, this is her first occupation in the shipyard industry. Prior to this position she served as Office Manager for a broker insurance services company and as Account Manager for an Import-Export Agency. She received her bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from UABC and enrolled in the Human Resources Administration course from UCSD to earn her certificate. She has been practicing CrossFit training for five years, and keeps learning about her profession, reading, physical activities and road tripping with her family.
RENE ROSAS
Estimating Supervisor
Rene Rosas is an Estimating Supervisor at STANDARD Ship Repair. He began working in navy ship repair in 2013 as a student welder in the largest ship repair company in San Diego. Graduating top of his class, Rene he continued his welding carrier for 8 years as a structural/pipe journeyman welder. He started at Standard as a pipe welder and within a year took on the role of project manager successfully running projects on time and profitable. He was later given the opportunity to join the estimating team and is currently the Estimating Supervisor.
ART HERNANDEZ
Director of Administration
Art Hernandez is Director of Administration at STANDARD Ship Repair. Art brings over 30+ years of experience in the Manufacturing Industry. He is responsible for implementing administrative systems to support day-to day operations, oversees employee recruiting, hiring, communications, while implementing policies and strategies to improve productivity and efficiency levels throughout the organization. He particularly focuses on inspiring and motivating employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and incentive initiatives.
